CCUK is a new brand of Contemporary Luxury Crystal from Cumbria Crystal.

The CCUK collections are designed by Katy Holford, who uniquely is both the designer and Managing Director of Cumbria Crystal.

Katy is an award-winning designer and has worked with many of the best-known international luxury brands. All of the new CCUK pieces are hand crafted by skilled artisans at Cumbria Crystal’s factory in Ulverston, the only full lead crystal company still manufacturing in England.

Lyre

Embodying classical design with a contemporary edge, Lyre’s elegant cuts have been applied by hand to make light appear more incandescent. Six

CCUK is launching the new SIX collection at Fortnum and Masons in April 2011.

The collection is a mix of 6 styles of contemporary glass designs matched to make one unique collection of stemware. The designs are fresh, eclectic and original, using the traditional hand blown and cutting techniques for which Cumbria Crystal is renowned.

Katy Holford explains her inspiration “The Six Collection mirrors friends around my dinner table. Each individual is unique and beautiful, and brought together by the common bond of friendship. Each glass has been individually designed with a cut distinctive from its neighbour and utterly suited to the simple spherical shape which brings the collection together.”

“Six is also a play on words. The making of lead crystal is an art. To make a single glass, there are 6 individual processes, each step completed by a highly skilled craftsman. From blowing to cutting, every step is done by hand, creating a glass of superb clarity and an artisan finish.”
